Nancy McKinley Regional-Project Grants

icon_McKinleyRegProjectGrantsNSSLHA chapters in good standing are eligible to receive funds up to $1,000 to support pre-professional activities, education events, or advocacy projects, that benefit the members of a local NSSLHA chapter or region. This award is named in honor of Nancy McKinley, founding owner of Thinking Publications, because of her dedication to NSSLHA and students pursuing careers in the communication sciences. Regional-Project Grant Awards are considered "bridge" funding for a project. This means that funding priority is given to those projects that are most in need of financial assistance.

Regional Project Grant funds cannot be used in the following manner:

  • to provide scholarships to students to attend national conferences;
  • to facilitate NSSLHA Loves or other fundraising activities;
  • to provide gifts or awards to speakers or students participating in local chapter activities; or
  • to provide equipment or services to the local chapter or to another organization (please refer to the Community-Service Grant application to apply for this funding)

Fund Disbursement

Chapters that are awarded funds receive a letter of grant award, a check for half of the awarded amount, and guidelines for the End-of-Grant Report [PDF]. A check for the balance of the grant funds will be issued once the End-of-Grant Report [PDF], program evaluation [PDF], and/or a final financial statement, has been submitted to the national office at NSSLHAprograms@ASHA.org at the completion of the event.
